MASSIS is a 4-piece (mostly instrumental) band, driven by guitars and a well-oiled rhythm section, which prefers to travel off the beaten track. The 4 members love the raw style of the eighties, where music could still breathe passion instead of being a safe and cosy blanket of comfort. Erwin & Jo Reynders – Bass and drums : In the mid-eighties these brothers terrorized Europe with the hardcore band Heibel. The jazz-core combo Triptych (indeed, 3 Reynders-brothers) in the nineties filled the gap between Victims Family and Chris Whitley. From 2000 onwards the brothers laid down a fierce base in the stonerrock band Cabrón. Steven Janssens – Guitar : Steven is replacing former guitarist Bernard Van Hecke since the beginning of 2015. Apart from his own band The Whodads, he also played with Mauro & The Grooms and Daan. In 2012 he toured with Mark Lanegan Band through Europe and the States. Andy Heurckmans – Guitar : For 25 years, Andy has been exploring the endless limits of rock music. In his bands Hangmen and Balderdash, Andy’s guitar has served the dissonant and harsh sounds.
